How does Know a Pro work?
Search by the service you need and your area, browse verified professional profiles, and contact a pro directly. Finding and messaging pros is free for customers.
Is Know a Pro free for customers?
Yes. Searching, browsing profiles and contacting professionals is completely free — you only pay the pro for the work you agree on.
How do I find a professional near me?
Use the Find a Pro search to filter by service category and your city or town. Each result links to a full profile with services, pricing and contact details.
How do I contact a pro?
Every profile has direct contact options — send a message, email, or reach the pro on WhatsApp. There is no middleman and no booking fee.
What if a pro does not reply?
Most pros reply within 24 hours. If you don't hear back, contact our support team and we'll help you find another verified professional.
Which areas of South Africa does Know a Pro cover?
Know a Pro is a South African platform with professionals listed across the country. Filter by your city or town to see pros who serve your area.
Trust & verification
What does the Verified badge mean?
Every professional's identity is checked before their page goes live. The green Verified badge confirms we've completed that ID check.
Are all pros on Know a Pro verified?
Yes. ID verification is required before any professional's page can be published, so every live pro on Know a Pro is identity-verified.
What is the Background Checked badge?
It's an optional extra layer of trust. Professionals who submit a valid police clearance certificate receive an additional Background Checked badge on their profile.
How is my personal information protected?
We only share the details you choose to send a pro when you contact them. See our Privacy Policy for how your information is handled.
What should I do if I have a problem with a pro?
Contact our support team and we'll help you resolve the issue or find an alternative professional for your job.
For professionals
How much does it cost to list my business?
Plans start at R300/month. Independent Pros and sole traders pay R300 a month, and registered businesses pay R500 a month.
What do I get for my subscription?
Your own professional profile page, a unique shareable link, a QR code, a lead inbox, and a Verified badge once your ID is approved.
Do I need a registered company to join?
No. Independent Pros and sole traders are welcome on the R300/month plan — a registered company is not required.
How do customer leads reach me?
Enquiries come straight to your inbox or your WhatsApp. There's no middleman between you and the customer.
How do I get verified?
Complete ID verification in the sign-up wizard. Once it's approved, your profile goes live with the green Verified badge.
Do I need a police clearance to start?
No. You go live with your ID verification. A police clearance is optional and can be added later to earn the Background Checked badge.
Is there a contract or lock-in?
No lock-in. You can cancel anytime and your page stays live until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Billing & subscriptions
How does billing work?
Subscriptions are billed monthly and processed securely through Paystack.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There's no lock-in — cancel whenever you like and your profile remains live until the end of your current paid month.
What happens if my payment fails?
We'll email you and automatically attempt to recover the charge. Your page stays live during a short grace period while payment is sorted out.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Card payments, processed securely through our payment provider, Paystack.
